While the facts and data aspect of his work is aligned with modern Lean, his theories of management diverged from Lean in one major way.

Taylor was a believer that control should be maintained by management, and that workers should be relegated to executing the work in the way management told them to. This is in sharp contrast to a continuous improvement culture where employees are responsible for contributing to improvements.
